Kenya is positioning itself as a premier wedding and honeymoon destination in efforts to diversify its tourism products.
A statement by the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) says exclusive packages for honeymooners and wedding events have been developed to accommodate varied clientele in different parts of the country.
In June, KTB participated in the Bride and Groom Expo hosted by the Vision Group of Uganda with a view of growing the number of visitors from Uganda.
“Uganda is one of Kenya’s top tourist source markets from Africa and with a huge potential to post more arrivals into the country,” said the marketing agency.
At the close of 2016, the tourism industry recorded a remarkable growth of 75.7 per cent in air arrivals closing at 51,023 visitors, up from 29,038 recorded in 2015.

The strategy to grow the market includes campaigns, use of influencers and joint initiatives.
“We will continue to leverage initiatives that keep Kenya top of mind for Ugandans,” said KTB Chief Executive Betty Radier.
The three-day exhibition attracted over 8,000 visitors and gave participants an opportunity to win a four-day trip to Kenya.
