Protestors to State House now remanded
By Roseleen Nzioka Thirty-one activists led by Okoiti Omtatah who protested outside State House, Nairobi were remanded in police custody until July 25. The activists refused to identify themselves in court, as they faced charges of creating disturbances. The activists who were arrested on Tuesday and appeared in court on Wednesday were demanding the sacking of Education Minister Prof Sam Ongeri over the loss of billions of shillings meant for free education. The activists interrupted court proceedings by singing and chanting patriotic songs including the National Anthem. Mr Omtatah identified himself, but the other activists refused to disclose their identities and instead demanded that their case be referred to the Chief Justice.
