The activists who were arrested on Tuesday and appeared in court on Wednesday were demanding the sacking of Education Minister Prof Sam Ongeri over the loss of billions of shillings meant for free education.

Police intercepted the activists at State House Avenue as they were heading to present their demand to President Kibaki.

The activists interrupted court proceedings by singing and chanting patriotic songs including the National Anthem.

Mr Omtatah identified himself, but the other activists refused to disclose their identities and instead demanded that their case be referred to the Chief Justice.
