Luna Tranquility beat Cossack 6-5 to sound a stern warning of their intention to lift the Kinsman Cup on the first day at Timau Sports Club on Saturday.

Jamie Murray and Raphael Nzomo were the toast of their team as they scored crucial goals that delivered the victory.

Murray scored three goals as Nzomo managed a double respectively before Tarquin Gross sealed it with another to put the matter beyond doubt.

Craig Millar who is one of the most experienced players in the country replied with three goals for Cossack before Jos Craig and Geoff Morley scored one each in different chukkas.

Despite the loss, Morley said the matches are very close, a development that indicates the title can go either way among the four teams in the competition.

"Yes, we lost the match but it's good to put it straight that the matches are very close and the title could go either way," Morley told Standard Sports from Timau Sports Club.

In the second match, Sivanton Prime dismissed Hussar won 5-3.

Sivanto Prime team of Casimir Gross (6), Will Millar (2), Nick Millar (1) and Fred Kambo (0.5) overcome the experienced Hussar side of Archie Voorspuy (3,5), Izzy Voorspuy (3), Vishal Somaia (2) and Izzy Sitchbury (1).
