Remember the name Friends School Shanderema. Before this year's Western Region finals, few had heard of the school.

But after 90 minutes of nothing but brilliant display in the regional finals, it is that new name, and not the fancied Musingu High School, that will be parading at the national finals as champions.

Shanderema hit Musingu 3-0 to win the Western Region football finals.

It was a Kakamega county affair after the two teams renewed their rivalry.

Shanderema got a sweet revenge against Musingu after the latter beat them 2-1 in a highly contested Kakamega County finals.

Simon Masinza opened the scoring sheet in the fifth minute of the highly contested match before Mark Shaban ensured Shanderema will take a 2-0 half time lead after scoring in the 43rd minute.

"We had a good game, my boys took the instruction seriously after improving on our weaknesses and for sure we are in these games to win and that's why we are going to national to win," said Asuba.

Musingu head coach Brendan Mwinamo said his team have played very well despite losing against their main rivals Shanderema.

"We are happy where we have reached and we have accepted the results and going forward we are going to improve on our weaknesses and I want to promise our fans we will be back strong and of course we wish Shanderema all the best," said Mwinamo.
