Nyanza's Riaroh wins KCB Golf Series

The four-ball of Christine Riaroh, Tabitha Ojwang, Joyce Osike and Griffins Owino from Nyanza Golf Club amassed a combined score of 126 points to emerge the overall winners of the 2023 KCB East Africa Golf Tour  that was played at the par 72 Karen Country Club in Nairobi on Friday.

They were crowned the overall East African Golf Champions in the event that brought together over 140 golfers from Kenya and the East African region.

The team were also awarded Kshs. 1 million winning prize money and qualified to participate in 2024 Magical Kenya Ladies Open at Vipingo Baobab Ridge Golf Course in Kilifi County.  

“We came here with a motive of winning and we did exactly that. I can say we took time as a team to prepare for this tournament because we knew the competition would be tough. We polished our putting and tee shots and that is what granted us the victory. We cannot wait to participate in next year’s action, “said Riaroh on behalf of the team.

Kakamega’s Ronald Omondi, Jimmie Akhonya, Derik Mwaura, and Irene Ashioya returned 116 points to take the runners up slot, three points ahead of the third placed team of Mogan Chirchir, Moses Cheboi, Geoffrey Yego, and Frankline Kipyator from Railways Golf Club.

Seasoned golfer Joseph Malatu carded 48 stable ford points to clinch the overall Individual winner’s award while Patel Amrish returned 41 points to win the man’s prize.

Grace Muigai was the lady winner after carding an impressive 44 stable ford points while Adrian Mwangi was the junior winner on 34 points.

Nandi Golf Club Captain Isaac Kuto was named the first nine winner on his excellent score of 21 points and Allan Kirui was the best second nine winner with 23 points.

KCB Group CEO Paul Russo said this was a successful series this year and was happy to announce the unveiling of the 2024 KCB East Africa Golf Tour.

The launch of the 2024 KCB East Africa Golf tour is expected to tee off in February and will traverse 20 Counties in the Kenyan edition and five East African countries.
