Kenyan trio of Dan Kiviasi, Mike Mokamba and Hesbon Ochieng through to 200m semifinals

Kenyan sprinting trio of Dan Kiviasi, Mike Mokamba and Hesbon Ochieng on Thursday sailed through to the semifinals of the men's 200m finals at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
Kiviasi won heat seven in a time of 20.76 seconds to storm the finals alongside Alexander Nasir Taib from Malaysia who completed the two-automatic qualification spots after clocking 21.19 seconds.
In heat three, Mokamba came second in 20.82 seconds to automatically qualify for the semi-finals alongside the eventual winner Zharnel Hughes from England who won the heat in 20.30 seconds.
Ochieng became the third Kenyan to reach the semis despite finishing fourth in a time of 21.30 seconds in heat five.
He qualified as one of the two best losers as the heat went to Joseph Paul who timed 20.58.
In the women's 200m, Kenya's Millicent Ndoro eased through to the semifinals after timing 24.03 seconds behind Tokyo Olympic silver medallist Christine Mboma from Namibia who won the heat in 23.20 seconds.
Commonwealth Games 100m women's champion Thompson-Herah who is seeking to complete a double in Birmingham won heat five in 22.80 seconds ahead of the semis set for Friday.
