After today’s event, 20 boys and 20 girls will be selected to travel to Kigari, Embu on Saturday for the national meet scheduled for July 3 -7.

The national championships will be used to select athletes for the East Africa secondary schools games in September.
In the Coast meet, however, only few track events will be competed for including 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1,500m, 10,000 (boys) and 5,000 (girls).
Field events will include long jump, discuss, javelin, and shot putt.
Last week, Ministry of Education announced the resumption of school games after they were suspended in 2020 due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The ministry’s administration secretary Andrew Rukaria urged the games organisers to minimise the number of participants because of the rising Covid-19 cases.
He directed schools to ensure only 20 boys and 20 girls will represent each region at the national level.
Ministry of Education Deputy Director, Directorate of Quality Assurance and Standards Eliud Wambua said the calendar of other sporting activities will be released soon.
“We are on course with the resumption of school games. It has been a long time coming but here we are. Other activities will follow suit,” said Wambua.
