There is relief to students finally after Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe gave the green light for the resumption of see all sporting activities in learning institutions in the country.

The popular Kenya National Primary and Secondary School Games were suspended in March 2020 by President Uhuru Kenyatta during the national lockdown of the country as a measure to curb coronavirus pandemic.

Two years down the line, Kagwe on Friday revealed that sporting activities in schools would be one of the areas that will see full relaxation of the measures previously imposed.

Additionally, all sporting venues (stadiums) across the country would once again be allowed to admit fans on a full capacity.

"The Ministry of Health issues the following guidelines to the Ministry of Sports. For resumption of Sports, protocols be revised for spectators to be allowed back into the sporting venues as long as they are vaccinated."

"To the Ministry of Education, develop and implement protocols to allow for the full resumption of sporting activities in learning institutions," Kagwe said.

Schools games, normally a breeding ground for talents in the country, have hardly taken place due to the strict measures that the government put in place.
