Kisumu Lakeside and former champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) made home advantage count as they won both their respective weekend matches to solidify their push to finish in the playoffs position as the 2021 Kenya Basketball Federation Premier League gathers momentum.

Lakeside saw off university sides KCA University and University of Nairobi Terror 58-53 and 71-56 to collect important points that sees them take their tally of the season to 19 points in 13 matches.

Justus Okitoi and Kennedy Okumu played key roles in Lakeside’s victories where they scored 18 points and 11 points scored in KCA and Terror matches to guide the Kisumu-based club to their sixth win of the season.

Speaking to the Standard Sports, Lakeside captain Basil Ogembo said the wins will boost the team and help them towards achieving their goal of a top four finish.

“It’s been a great weekend for us, winning two games. It has been a challenging season for us both financially and in terms of infrastructure but we pulled through despite the obstacles.

“Our next matches are away in Nairobi. Playing on the road has been a difficult,” said Ogembo.
