Tottenham's Son Heung-min has won the Premier League Goal of the Season award for the 2019/20 campaign.

The South Korean forward received the prize for his brilliant solo effort against Burnley in December.

Son carried the ball from Tottenham's third of the pitch, racing 70 yards past four Burnley defenders en route while being chased by two more, before slotting past the goalkeeper to score.

Spurs were already two goals to good when Son struck the third in the emphatic 5-0 victory.

His strike beat competition from the likes of Man City's Kevin De Bruyne and Man Utd's Bruno Fernandes to claim the win.

De Bruyne was nominated for the award twice after smashing home a superb chest and half-volley off the underside of the bar against Newcastle, before another superlative strike on the final day vs Norwich.

Meanwhile Fernandes entered the running after the season restarted with his fine volley in United's win over Brighton.

Other names up for the award were Newcastle's Matty Longstaff for his winner against Man Utd, an acrobatic overhead kick from Brighton's Alireza Jahanbakhsh.

Making up the list were Leicester's Harvey Barnes, Southampton's Moussa Djenepo and Burnley's Matej Vydra.

It caps what was otherwise a disappointing season for Son, who was sent off twice and suffered a broken arm.

His amazing effort left manager Jose Mourinho comparing him to legendary Brazilian striker Ronaldo.

"Even before this goal, my son calls him Son-aldo, Son-aldo Nazario - and today he was Son-aldo Nazario," said Mourinho after Son's goal.

"The only thing that comes to my mind is the goal where I had the honour to be seated next to Sir Bobby Robson, it was Compostela-Barcelona, 1996, and Ronaldo Nazario got the ball behind the midfield line and scored a very similar goal to Son. Amazing goal."
