Man United latest Sancho transfer proposal and Dortmund response

Manchester United are continuing to negotiate with Borussia Dortmund in a bid to land Jadon Sancho.

The German giants have set an August 10 deadline for the transfer of the England winger to be done, before they head to their Swiss pre-season training camp.

However, that is something of a moot point, as they will say yes to the transfer, regardless of when United meet their £105million valuation.

Sancho remains Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s No.1 target, and the Norwegian has tasked club bosses with getting a deal done as soon as possible.

Solskjaer wants Sancho in place with plenty of time before the start of the new season.

The United boss has seen deals for Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes drag to the final throes of the previous two transfer windows and is keen to avoid similar this summer.

United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward had initially been keen to emerge with Sancho at a fee closer to £80million.

But with Dortmund holding firm on their price tag - believing that the financial impact of coronavirus will have had little effect on Sancho’s valuation across Europe, either this summer or next - Woodward and transfer fixer Matt Judge are working towards meeting Dortmund’s valuation.

The question is getting there in a manner that works for all parties, while also allowing United to pursue other targets.

According to Bild, the instalment plan - completely normal in such big-money deals - and the exact upfront figure is currently being negotiated over and is the source of back and forth between the two sides.

It’s claimed that right now, United are seeking to hand over £61million now, with a further £44million in the next two years.

That would see United pay out another £26.5million in 2021 and the remaining £17.5million in 2022.

That is something, it's stated, the German side "would not say no to", given it ensures the cash is forthcoming, and pays enough into their accounts right now to more than buy a straight replacement.

Sancho, 20, is set to triple his current £75k-a-week salary with a move back to Manchester, three years after his exit from Manchester City. He enjoyed a standout Bundesliga season in 2019-20, scoring 17 times and laying on 17 more for teammates in just 32 games for BVB.
