Johnnie-Walker-sponsored Dismas Indiza recovered from a disappointing third day slot on Friday to emerge the final winner of the 2019 Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort Safari Tour Open Golf Championship, in Kampala, Uganda.

The Kenyan triumphed at the par 72 Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort course, off Entebbe Road, on Saturday.

Indiza beat Sigona Golf Club’s Sujan Shah in a three-hole playoff after both players ended the final round of the four-day tournament tied at a round total of two under par 286 gross.

They were forced for a match play off at the par four-16th, par five-17th and par four-18th holes.

Shah fumbled at the 16th hole after playing a double and Indiza played level par and extended his lead at the 17th hole by sinking a birdie before Shah’s fate was sealed after  playing another double bogey at the final 18th hole.

The victory marks Indiza’s second Safari Tour Golf Series win after his maiden victory at the final leg of last season’s tournament at the Karen Country Club.

Indiza’s achievement in Uganda saw him pocket USD 1,500 (Sh153,000) and got maximum Road to Magical Kenya Open 2020 ranking points (50).
