AFC Leopards thrashed visiting Chemelil Sugar 4-0 to register their second consecutive Kenya Premier League win in an entertaining match played at Mumias Complex yesterday.

John Makwatta notched a brace with Soter Kayumba and Tresor Ndikumana each getting onto the score sheet as the Cassa Mbungo-led side moved to second in the KPL table with seven points.

Speaking after the match, Mbungo praised his charges for improving and playing more offensively, which was better than the last match against Wazito.

He further praised new signing Makwatta for his brilliance on the pitch and backed the 2016 MVP to reach higher standards this season.

“We started the season slowly after losing to Homeboyz and drawing against Sharks, results that were not appealing to the fans and the team. But after winning against Wazito, we found our mojo and the result is the big win against Chemelil,” he said.

In Kericho, Victor Ndinya and Elvis Rupia goals guided Wazito to their first win of the season after defeating hosts Zoo Kericho 2-0 at Green Stadium.

Fred Ambani had gone three matches without a win and the much needed victory saw the moneybags team move to tenth in the leagues standings.

“We played very well today and I’m happy that after a disappointing start to life in the premier league we are back to winning ways,” he said.
