Nairobi Region Secondary School Under-19 boys’ football champions Dagoretti High yesterday defeated Dagoretti Mixed 5-1 to retain the Sub-County title.

Dagoretti High, popularly known as Ditchez, carried the day as their Under-16 side beat hosts Lenana School in another final.

Coach Joseph Makokha said his aim is to defend the regional title and qualify for the national games.

“We are prepared for this year’s challenge and our aim is to qualify for East Africa games. The boys are inspired to work harder especially after our basketball team returned to the national games and performed better than last year,” Makokha said.

Simon Omondi and Marko Deng fired a brace each with Boniface Mwangi netting once for Dagoretti High while James Otieno scored Dagoretti Mixed’s consolation goal.

Dagoretti Mixed made light work of Ruthimitu in girls’ Under-19 final thrashing them 9-0 to be crowned champions.

Fasila Kamama was on fire outclassing Ruthimitu goalkeeper four times while Damaris Akinyi netted a hat-trick in the lop-sided encounter.

Drailer Salome and Irene Namalei scored one goal each for Dagoretti Mixed, who are eying a ticket to the national championships this year.

In boys’ Under-16, Dagoretti High thrashed Lenana 4-1 to retain their title in a repeat of last year’s final.

Lennox Ochele put the hosts in the lead in the first minute but Dagoretti recovered to score four first half goals to extend their dominance over Lenana, who they beat 2-0 in last year’s final.

Pius Omachi drew level by the quarter hour mark through a penalty with Baron Ochieng making it 2-1 five minutes later.

Addis Paroam and Jessy Okoth scored in the 24th and 28th minutes to give Dagoretti a comfortable 4-1 lead at the breather.

Both sides failed to break the opponent’s defence in a goalless second half despite creating numerous scoring opportunities.

Meanwhile, Dagoretti Mixed retained girls’ Under-16 title with a resounding 5-0 win over Nembu. Vivian Moraa and Joyce Njambi bagged a brace each while Jane Matika made it five for Dagoretti Mixed, who are seeking to secure their ticket to this year’s national Term Two games set for late July in Kisumu.

Elsewhere, former national boys’ volleyball champions Hospital Hill retained their Westlands Sub-County title after beating Nairobi School 3-0.

Hospital Hill were too good for their opponents easing to victory 25-10, 25-10 and 25-15.
