The Spaniard netted the deciding goal at Wembley Stadium to ensure the Red Devils will be in the final, after they went a goal behind against Spurs.

Dele Alli broke the deadlock for Maurico Pochetinno's side in just the 11th minute in what could have been a long afternoon for United.

But the Old Trafford giants hit back through Alexis Sanchez - who put in a man of the match performance - before Herrera scored the winner after the break with a long range effort that took Michel Vorm completely by surprise.

Sanchez understandably took the plaudits after the match, as his goal and overall attacking play levelled the scores for United and helped them win the tie.

Talking to the BBC after the game, Herrera said: "I'm really happy of course. We are in another final and we're getting used to being in finals. This club is all about titles and finals."

The duo have faced heavy criticism at times this season, with speculation Jose Mourinho is looking to sign a world-class centre back in the summer to pair with Eric Bailly ahead of next season.

But the duo staked a claim to the first team by keeping Harry Kane quiet for the entirety of Saturday's semi-final.
