Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia bowed out of the Caf Championship after a five star Esperance hammered them 5-0 in the second leg match played on Monday March 10 2014 at the Rades Stadium in Tunis.

It was Esperance’s Heithem Jouini night as the star scored a hat-trick in the 44th, 48th, and 56th minutes and was followed with Harrison Afful and Idriss Mhrisi’s 54th and74th minutes goals respectively.

In the 46th minute just before Gor Mahia got a corner that was cleared away by the ES defence, Esperance boss Ruud Krol substituted Khalil Chammam for Iheb Mbarki. Two minutes later, Heithem fired ES into a 2-0 lead after tapping in past David Juma from an Iheb Mbarki clear-cut pass.

The Ghanaian international Harrison converted the rebound after David Juma parried off a Thiery Makon shot from the area in the 56th minute.

K’Ogalo reacted a minute later by bringing on Kevin Ade Omondi for George Odhiambo but before Ade could get his first touch of the ball, Esperance scored the fourth goal after Idriss’s low shot went past the Gor’s shot stopper.

Dan Sserunkuma saw his shot go wide before K’Ogalo coach Bobby Williamson brought on Patrick Oboya for Musa Mohammed with Kevin Oluoch moving to right back position.

In the 74th minute, Idriss Mhrisi scored the fifth goal for Esperance before coming out for Mohammed Ali Mhadhebi.

Gor Mahia undoubtedly could not pull a comeback with only two minutes of added time thus edging out of the competition on an 8-2 aggregate after losing 2-3 in the first leg in Nairobi.
