Manchester United welcome back Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Marcos Rojo for the visit of Newcastle.

Ibrahimovic and Rojo make the squad for the first time since suffering cruciate knee ligament injuries in April and Pogba is back after two months on the sidelines with hamstring trouble.

Defender Marcos Rojo, who also suffered cruciate ligament damage in the same game as Ibrahimovic, is also fit again and all three will be on the bench against Newcastle at Old Trafford.

“All three selected for the match – in the squad,” said Mourinho.

“With Paul, you can see that there was - and now I can speak now because he's back - but you can clearly see Manchester United this season before Paul's injury and after Paul's injury.

“There are qualities in our football that influence our approach in matches, with Pogba and without Pogba, that's as simple as that.

“With Zlatan, last season we played with him for almost every minute until he was injured.

“He made a full recovery, but now you cannot expect him to play 90 minutes or consecutive matches like he did all his career.

“Now he needs time to be back for his level, his fitness, his confidence, everything, his sharpness, but the clinical point of view is that it's fantastic to be ready.

“This season we learned how to play without him, but he's a very important player for us and, of course, we welcome back an incredible personality having fought such an important injury.

“We were all saying in 2017 he will be back, but one thing is December 31 2017 and another thing is mid-November.

“He was, as an injured player, the same super pro he was when he's fit. So fantastic work, same as Marcos, who had an important injury too, a big surgery.

“Paul is obviously not in the same dimension, it was not a surgical situation, but it was also bad and all three are back.”

Phil Jones looks certain to miss out after being injured in England's friendly against Germany.

Provisional squad: De Gea, Romero, Pereira, Valencia, Darmian, Tuanzebe, Bailly, Lindelof, Rojo, Smalling, Blind, Shaw, Young, Pogba, Matic, Herrera, McTominay, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Lukaku, Ibrahimovic, Rashford, Martial.
