The cabinet has approved a Sh4.2billion budget for the hosting of next year's Africa Nations Championships (Chan).

This was confirmed after yesterday's cabinet meeting held at State House, Nairobi.

It comes just three days before Confederation of African Football (Caf) makes a final decision on Kenya's ability to host the event during its executive meeting in Accra, Ghana.

Apart from the government guarantee, Caf is also likely to consider the political environment in Kenya before making a final decision on the country's ability to host the event.

The country is in the middle of a presidential election re-run after the supreme court nullified the Auguat 8 Presidential elections.

Fourstadia, Kasarani, Nyayo, Kinoru and Kipchoge Keino are behind schedule though Caf team of inspectors who were in the country last week are said to be satisfied by the progress and remains optimistic the work will be completed in time for the tournament.
