Reports indicate Wayne Rooney might be hit with a club fine after he was stopped by police last week and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman met with Rooney at the club’s Finch Farm training ground on Tuesday for showdown talks following his brush with the law.

Koeman, reading from a prepared statement at the start of his pre-match press conference, said: “I am very disappointed.

“In line with any disciplinary matter, this will be dealt with internally by the club at the appropriate time.”

Reports indicate that Everton are keen on taking appropriate action against Rooney.

However Rooney has made an impressive start to his career back at his boyhood club, scoring twice in his first three league matches.
