The third edition of Cecafa Women Championship will be held in Rwanda in November. This decision was made after a meeting held by the regional football body bosses yesterday in Nairobi.
This will be the second consecutive regional championship for women following last year’s edition that was held in Uganda where Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro Queens defeated Harambee Starlets 2-1 in the final to take the title.
At the same time, Harambee Starlets will know their opponents today when the draw for the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) Women Championship 2017 edition is held at Cosafa House in Johannesburg.
Starlets has been invited to grace the championship that will be held in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, as guests. The tournament has attracted 12 teams.
The teams include defending champions Zimbabwe, three-time winners Banyana Banyana of South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Lesotho, Mozambique, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Swaziland and Kenya.
