All Stars Players being trained

Malaga CF youth development coach Diego Vera Ideota has described the Kenya Premier League All Star players as “coachable” after a training session at La Cala Golf Resort.

Ideote and fellow youth trainer Jose Miguel Marquez took the select side through rigorous drills on passing, shutting down attacks, awareness on the pitch and keeping possession.

And after a two-hour session, Ideote’s verdict was: “The Kenyan players are aggressive and have a fighting spirit. They have some basics and I can say they are coachable."

“They need to be aware of everything happening on the pitch especially where their teammates are and anticipate moves even before receiving the ball.”

SportPesa Global Marketing Manager Joyce Kibe said: “Apart from playing against the LaLiga teams we thought that it would be good if they get exposure from La Liga coaches and that is why we requested Malaga to facilitate a mini-clinic. We did this so the players could interact with different coaches and expose them to new ways of training.

“We did not want the team to leave empty-handed, but to also take some lessons back home,” she added. [Robin Toskin]
