The event entered its second day on Thursday July 13 with lots of activities lined up.
Mburu Waithaka, who finished second in heat one was joined by Edward Zakayo who crossed the line first in his heat in the 3000 metres final.
In the 400 metres women hurdles, Kenya’s Leah Jeruto did not qualify after finishing third in heat two. She was beaten by youngsters from South Africa and Germany.
Irene Akinyi finished seventh in her third heat.
In the 800 metres women, youngsters Lydia Jeruto and Jackline Wangui topped their hits to advance.
Christabel Abuti, though did not advance, will go down history books by becoming first Kenyan female to contest a hammer at a global championship.
The afternoon session resumes at 4 pm.
