Former General Service Unit coach Moses Epoloto has been reappointed as the national men’s volleyball team head coach, The Standard Sports can reveal.

Epoloto replaces outspoken Paul Gitau, who is running for a political seat in next month's General Elections.

The veteran tactician will be assisted by Kenya Prisons deputy coach Paul Muthinja with Kenya Volleyball Federation Organising Secretary Ismael Chege serving as the Team Manager.

Epoloto’s first assignment will be to assemble a strong team, that is expected to start training on Tuesday at Nyayo National Stadium, ahead of the Zone 5 World Cup qualifiers slated for 22 to 26 July in Rwanda.

There was also some reshuffle in the national women’s team, with celebrated former Malkia Strikers captain Dorcas Ndasaba appointed as Japheth Munala’s deputy.

Munala is the women's team coach. KVF committee member Aisha Otieno has also been named as the Team Manager.

Confirming the changes to The Standard Sports, KVF Secretary General Ben Juma assured both technical benches of the federation’s support.

“We have faith in the coaches we have selected for the upcoming national teams’ duties. As the federation, we will give them all the necessary support to ensure they achieve our objectives,” Juma said.

“Both teams (men and women) will report to Nyayo Stadium on Tuesday to start preparing for the Zone 5 World Cup qualifiers. It is because of this that the Kenya U-23 women’s team will shift their training base to Shauri Moyo.

"The world cup bound women’s beach volleyball team will also resume training on Tuesday in Mombasa,” he added.

Juma believes the inclusion of Ndasaba, in the women’s technical will inspire many young players. [Rodgers Eshitemi]
