Spedag picked their second win of the season after a 3-0 win against Kayole Starlet in a Women Premier League tie yesterday.

The match played at MYSA Grounds Komarock yesterday saw Sharon Bushenei score a brace with last season’s Zone A top scorer Esse Akida scorin her first goal of the season.

As expected, Spedag who have had a dismissal start to the season with only one win and three defeats from four rounds, came out stronger because of their experience compared to their opponents who have a very young team.

Akida misses

The match started in a slow pace with both sides sizing up each other, but it was the away team that had an early opportunity as Akida’s 20th minute strike went over the crossbar.

The home team replied with Christine Ngoizi’s long range shot from outside the area but her effort went out for a goal kick with ten minutes to the breather.

The home team was able to hold a star-studded Spedag for 44 minutes but a mistake in defence gifted the traveling team lead the opener in the 45th minute when Bushenei slotted the ball home.

Owiti scores two

On resumption, Spedag were a better side as they continued to attack and their efforts were rewarded as Akida slotted home a second in the 64th minute.

Two minutes later, Bushenei was set up by Akida for a third goal ensuring the away team took the maximum points.

In Zone B, Vihiga Queens continued with their smooth run in the league as they edged out Wadadia 4-1 at Mumias Complex Grounds.

Phoebe Owiti continued with her scoring prowess as she notched a brace with Enez Mango and Maureen Ater each scoring one each. [Rebecca Jebet]
