Cereals hit Boomerang

National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) men’s handball team registered their first win with a 32-18 win over Boomerang as the Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) national league first round matches continued at Nyayo Stadium yesterday.

Edna Kasandi, the NCPB team manager said it was a good match being their season opener. William Malui and Timothy Karimi of NCPB scored eight goals each as joint top scorers of the match with team mate Bournventure Kiduka posting four goals against his name.

Josphat Oigo managed seven goals with team mates Randy Odhiambo and Wesley Swayo managed three goals each as top scorers for Boomerang.

NCPB started the match on a high posting 5-2 lead in ten minutes of the match and continued the assault as they registered 9-4 at the end of first quarter.

Boomerang committed a lot of mistakes especially in front of goal failing to utilise their chances coupled with misplaced passes that cost them. NCPB capitalised on their opponents’ mistakes to extend the lead to 15-6 by the breather.

On resumption,NCPB continued from where they left as they registered a 25-10 by the third quarter.

The match between NCPB women’s team was not played since their opponents Kenyatta University(KU) who made a comeback to the league were absent.

KU will also not feature in today’s match against Newbies Divas. [Rebecca Jebet]
