Goalkeepers SHOULD cost loads of money.

As the men who can single-handedly win vital points for their side with one brilliant save, they SHOULD be among the valuable footballers on the planet.

And yet, incredibly, Ederson’s (almost completed) £34.7m move from Benfica to Manchester City is one of just a handful of times any club has ever spent more than £10million on a man between the sticks.

The headline news is that the as yet uncapped Brazilian will break Gianluigi Buffon's 16 year-old record and become the world's most expensive goalkeeper.

However, the more interesting revelation is that Ederson will become only the ELEVENTH number one to move for a fee of £10million plus.

Here is the full list of the most expensive keepers ever… including some transfers from a LONG time ago:

10. Fraser Forster: £10million- Chelsea to Bournemouth, 2017

9. Petr Cech: £10.9million- Chelsea to Arsenal, 2015
