The festive season has opened with great and life changing news for one Walter Korir from Rift Valley, who walks away with Sh14.5 million in prize money from sports betting firm Elitebet Kenya.

In addition to the cash prize, Korir from Bomet County will go through a six-month financial management and investment programme. An elated Korir says he opened an account with Elitebet Kenya last month.

He placed bets for two weeks responsibly ranging from Sh10 to Sh50. On December 3, at 9:01am, with only Sh175 in his account, Korir placed his bet of Sh50 via SMS on the Elitebet Kenya Jackpot. On December 18, he received a life-changing SMS that read, “OMG! You won the jackpot!”

“I could not believe the message and I had to keep asking the person who made a follow up call if they were sure I had won all that money or it was just a hoax,” he explained. Korir said he would first sit back and plan before making investment decisions.
