Wayne Rooney is in line to start as Manchester United’s main striker against Northampton tonight.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be rested at Sixfields and Rooney placed up front against the League One side.

According to ="https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/">The Sun<, Several big-name United players will be left out but Rooney is not one of them.

Rooney was also rested for last Thursday's Europa League defeat at Feyenoord, and Mourinho is coming under mounting pressure to drop him for Saturday's clash with the defending Premier League champions.
