Victor Wanyama is looking forward to a “new dawn” in his career at Tottenham as the Kenyan midfielder closes in on an £11million move from Southampton.

Wanyama appears set to join up with former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane, with the player claiming a medical has been completed, although there has as yet been no formal confirmation from either Barclays Premier League club.

The midfielder, who will be 25 on Saturday, was signed from Celtic in July 2013, but had so far not taken up offers of a new contract, and so would be free to leave St Mary’s Stadium at the end of next season.

“I am indeed elated at passing my medicals at Tottenham. It is a new dawn in my career and I believe I will give my best for my new team,” Wanyama said in an interview with African football website ="http://www.soka25east.com/" target="_blank">www.soka25east.com<.

“I want to thank Southampton management and fans for the exceptional time we had together. I will always have a fond place for them in my heart.”

Wanyama made 92 appearances for Southampton, scoring four goals.
