Victor Wanyama has been left out of Southampton’s game against Norwich today after refusing to back down on his bid to join Tottenham.

It is the second matchday squad in a row that Wanyama has been omitted from after he was left out of the Saints’ Europa League party to face FC Midtjylland in midweek.

The clubs claimed the Kenyan had a stomach infection but it is known that he wants to be reunited with former boss Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham are set to make a strong attempt to land Wanyama over the next 48 hours after their having their initial approaches dismissed.

Southampton have already insisted that neither he nor Manchester United target Sadio Mane will be leaving the club following the sales that have disrupted the clubs plans over the past three years.
