Manchester United's goalkeeping coach Frans Hoek has admitted the club face a 'difficult' task in signing Pedro from Barcelona.

Pedro, 27, played against United in Barca's 3-1 defeat in Santa Clara at the weekend and could complete a transfer to The Reds by the end of this week.

Louis van Gaal has identified the Spain forward as the outgoing Angel di Maria's replacement, however Hoek was coy on the prospect of an imminent move.

He said: "Pedro? We will see, a lot of things can happen in the world of football, but everything is very difficult."
