LONDON: Manuel Pellegrini has admitted Vincent Kompany may not play again this season.

Manchester City skipper Kompany came off at half-time during his side's 4-2 derby defeat to United at Old Trafford last Sunday.

The defender had a scan on his groin problem this week and has been ruled out fo City's Premier League clash at home to West Ham on Sunday.

But Pellegrini admitted he had no idea whether Kompoany will make a sufficient recovery to enable him to play again this season.

“He is injured,” said Pellegrini. “It's very difficult to know the way you will improve if you are injured.

“We don't know how many weeks he will be out for. He has a muscle injury. We don't know if he will be fit from now to the end of the season.”
