AFC: Sh3.9 million raised from mashemeji derby

Sunday’s Kenyan Premier League (KPL) derby raised Sh3.9million in gate collections. The match was played at the Nyayo National Stadium. The money is expected to greatly boost hosts AFC Leopards who gave been struggling financially since their shirt sponsors Mumias Sugar suspended support to the team for three months. The money is expected to help Leopards pay part of the pending salary for the players and members of the technical bench. Leopards play KCB in today’s midweek league match at Nyayo Stadium.

GOR MAHIA: Glay finally gets work permit

Gor Mahia defender Dirkir Glay is finally able to play for the side in local matches after receiving a temporary work permit. Glay, who formerly played for Thika United, has been unavailable for the KPL champions since the season started. Gor Mahia Deputy Secretary General Ronald Ngala confirmed they received a work permit for the Liberian. "We finally have the document after a delay at the Immigration department. His presence is a big boost for the team and are happy to have him available," he said.
