There is hope for Primary and Secondary Schools learners after the government announced the return of sporting activities.

The Ministry of Education said sports in schools will resume in gradual and safe manner.

This will be a boost to learners, who since the outbreak of Covid-19, closely two years, have not been actively engaged in sports due to the ban on the games.

Principal Secretary for Ministry of Education Julius Jwan said the Ministry of Health has given a go ahead on the resumption of inter school co-curriculum activities with strict adherence to safety guidelines.

“In February, the Ministry of Education in conjunction with that of Health and Sports developed the Covid-19 safety and health protocols that will enable gradual and safe resumption of sports in education institutions.”

“The guidelines were later presented to the National and Regional Co-curriculum Committees and last month the Ministry of Health recommended resumption of sports.”

“Following the directive, the Ministry of Education has advised Principals to engage learners in internal co-curricular activities and guided inter-school contest over the weekend after classes,” said the PS.

The Education ministry at the same time said that it is working on modalities for full resumption of activities in due course.
