Ulinzi shut Sauti to win netball title

The annual three-day Ushirika Sports tournament ended over the weekend at the Stima Members Club, Nairobi. The event brought together Saving and Credit Co-Operatives teams to compete in various disciplines including volleyball, football, basketball, netball, and golf.

In women’s netball, it was a tight battle between Ulinzi and Sauti Sacco with the two exchanging leads only for Ulinzi to carry the day with a 40-34 win. The men’s category was a one-sided affair as Magereza thrashed Mathare 4 North 45-21.

In Men’s volleyball, Police beat Magereza Sacco 3-1 (25-21, 25-17, 23-25 and 25-16) to lift the trophy.

In the women category, Magereza Sacco saved face by beating CIC in straight sets of 25-22, 25-19, 25-23.

The men’s football final was a battle between Sheria Sacco and UN Sacco. A brace from Robert Mbugua saw Sheria sink UN 2-0.

In the men’s golf, Jimmy Kimondo a handicap 10 finished at the top of the leaderboard with 37 points while the ladies title went to Eunice Kilonzo a handicap 22, who got 34 points. However, the overall title went to Sho Onyango, who got 41 points.
