Police in Bondo, Siaya, are holding a teenager over the killing of his mother's lover.
Maurice Okoth was stabbed to death in Sanda village after he allegedly differed with the teenager.
According to witnesses, the deceased, who worked as a watchman at the Sanda Primary School in Usenge, had asked the minor to stand in for him. The boy refused and attacked him with a knife, stabbing him in the chest. Sub-County Police Commander Robert Aboki said the suspect would be presented in court to take plea.
"Investigations are on to establish what transpired, but preliminary reports indicate that the suspect had a disagreement with his stepfather," he said.
"The boy reportedly refused to perform the watchman duties as requested by the stepfather thus the bitter disagreement and stabbing."
