Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) men are one win away from retaining the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Premier League title after taking a 2-1 lead in the best of five playoffs finals currently going on in Mombasa.

KPA saw off Equity Bank Dumas 68-44 in Game Three played at Makande Gymnasium on Saturday to inch closer to the title.

The win now means KPA needs to win Game Four today (Sunday) to be declared the 2023 champions. If the bankers tie the series at 2-2, a winner takes it all Game Five will be played on Monday.

Inspired by their women team claiming the women's gong earlier when they swept Zetech Sparks 3-0, the Dockers got off to a perfect start after leading 22-7 in the first quarter.

The hosts proceeded to take a 16-point lead at the break when they led 33-17 after a narrow 11-10 second quarter show.

Another 16-12 and 19-15 show in the final half saw KPA seal a 68-44 win.

Equity Dumas tied the series 1-1 after coming from behind to edge the Dockers in Game two by a basket. The Bankers won 70-69 after KPA won 62-53 in Game One.
