Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt was today stripped of his Olympic 4x100m gold from Beijing after Jamaican team-mate Nesta Carter was discovered to have traces of banned drug substances in his system.

This means the entire Jamaican 4x100m boys including Bolt have been stripped of their gold medals even though there is no evidence of wrong-doing by his team-mates.

International Olympic Committee chiefs made the decision after a hearing in November to discuss Carter’s results following re-tests of samples from the Beijing Games.

The entire Jamaican team that took part in the relay has now been disqualified and all athletes must return their medals.
