You might be inclined to call it a vegetable, thanks to its green hue and savory taste, but the avocado is technically a fruit, and even more specifically, a single-seeded berry.

A fruit is “the matured ovary of a flower,” according to University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Avocados can be eaten with pretty much anything. They are great for smoothies, providing a uniquely silky texture to smoothies without an overbearing taste. They’re like a magic ingredient that will completely transform your smoothie game.

Avocados can give real substance to what might otherwise be an unfulfilling smoothie, and they offer a range of health benefits, too.

They’re high in protein and potassium, and a great source of fibre and healthy fat. After putting some avocado in a smoothie, you may never make another type of smoothie.
