Employers may soon be forced to set up special facilities for breastfeeding mothers in the workplace if MPs enact a new bill. The bill by Murang'a MP Sabina Chege seeks to compel employers to build special rooms where lactating mothers can breastfeed and change their babies.

If the Breastfeeding Mother's Bill is enacted, any company or organisation with more than 30 employees will be required to have a breastfeeding room as well as a changing facility. "It is wrong for mothers to stop breastfeeding or compromise their babies' health because of work," said Ms Chege.
