Kenya: The High Court has stopped the National Environment Management Authority (Nema) from recruiting a replacement for its sacked Director of Compliance and Enforcement Benjamin Langwen.
Prof Langwen was sacked last December over allegations that he irregularly authorised the construction of the multi-million Carneval Apartments in Nyali, Mombasa, but he described his dismissal as a cover up. On January 8, he filed a petition through Paul Mungla Advocates seeking authority to commence proceedings against Nema.
He has now moved to court to challenge his sacking and obtained a temporary restraining order. The order issued by Justice James Rika of the Industrial Court in Nairobi will remain in force until an application filed by Langwen is heard.
