Nairobi Governor eventually narrowed down his list of deputy governor picks to just five, according to a post on his official Facebook handle.

Sharing the news, the governor said that he had submitted the names to Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi for debating and approval.

Sonko’s alleged list includes: Former Nairobi Women Rep Rachel Shebesh, business woman Agnes Kagure, Karen Nyamu, journalist Anne Kiguta and former nominated senator Elizabeth Ongoro.

The names were interestingly drawn from a larger list of 22 names that he had earlier shared with the public asking Nairobi residents to help him pick a deputy governor to fill the slot left by Polycarp Igathe resigned in January quoting failure to win Sonko’s trust.

However, when a local daily reached the governor for comment, he said: “Today is April Fool’s Day. That is a special message for Nairobians.”
