Hon Daisy Kanaiza Nyongesa- Nominated Senator (Youth), Kakamega
I joined Masinde Muliro University of science and technology (MMUST) in 2008 for a Bachelors of Arts degree in Education (English/Literature).
Learning at MMUST was fantastic and interesting especially where our lecturers made us interact with authors and different genres of literature.
My favourite unit was Literature and analysis because I loved to read wide and wild. The unit offered me paradise on earth I should say.
I abhorred a common unit called IRD which virtually went into details bashing the African states’ and philosophy as it pampered western ideologies.
My favourite lecturer was Bob Mbori who kept teaching with a smile on his face and had a rare talent of demystifying literature logic with wise cracks. Perhaps my least favourite lecturer was one who bored me in his classes besides refusing to pick my assignment... my worst time in campus!
I never used Mwakenya to pass exams because I knew what it meant being found cheating. Free time saw me play netball. I also tried my hand in students politics. I however never dated in campus and found it abominable to touch alcohol while in campus.
Daisy graduated in 2012 with a BA in English/Literature and is currently pursuing a Masters in Diplomacy and Foreign Policy at Moi University.
