My family loves jam and honey, which I buy regularly. This calculates to quite a number of glass jars in my kitchen cabinets.

Even after using them to store salt, tea leaves, etc, I find I still have many jars. Instead of throwing them out, I use them as fruit and vegetable salad jars.

This is a classic simple all-in-one meal where you are guaranteed a forkful of yumminess. Toss this salad in a jar. It’s easy to carry and the kids will love it. I know mine do. I love my salad in a jar; it’s easy to munch on, on the go and not messy.

Ingredients:

2 cups chopped romaine lettuce ½ cup cubed turkey or chicken ½ cup cherry tomatoes, halved 1 avocado, diced  4 hard-boiled eggs, finely chopped ¼ cup cheddar cheese, shredded  4 glass jars

Directions: In each jar, layer the ingredients. Lettuce, tomatoes, turkey, avocado, eggs then cheese.

Serve with your favorite dressing
