Despite losing the long awaited “Best International Act Africa” BET Award to Ghana’s dancehall hit maker Stonebwoy, there is no denying that Sauti Sol have made Kenya proud by carrying our flag on international platforms and being nominated.
The coveted award included other top contenders across Africa like AKA, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Fally Ipupa, Sauti Sol, Wizkid, The Soil and Yemi Alade all who flew to the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles for the glamorous gala.
Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Beyonce and Lil Wayne lead the nominations in the network’s 15th annual show and went ahead to win in most of their categories while Janet Jackson was the biggest winner, taking home the Ultimate Icon: Music Dance Visual Award.
Despite not taking an award, Rihanna made highlights of the night after showing up with a thick duct tape in hand, while many wondered whether she had some DIY projects to fix up, she went ahead to sit next to a dazzled Floyd Mayweather who didn’t seem to understand what Rihanna’s duct tape was for either!
That was until Rihanna taped his mouth shut during the commercial break!
