Majority Leader Joshua Mwonga has blamed senior politicians in the region for his predicament on Sunday last week at a fundsdrive in Masinga sub-county.

Saying he now feared for his life, Mr Mwonga insisted politicians had hatched the plot to prevent him from presenting the governor's contribution at the harambee.

Addressing the Press at his assembly offices in Machakos town yesterday, Mwonga said he ill-treated due to his closeness to Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.

SHAMEFUL ACTS

"No amount of intimidation or threats will stop me from supporting the governor since we serve under the same county government," he said.

In the Sunday incident, Mwonga was slapped by nominated MCA Caro Musembi and claimed to have been attacked by hired goons who in the commotion stole Sh10,000 from his pocket.

"Fortunately, I had left the Governor's contribution in the vehicle which could have been taken from me along with my Sh10,000," he said.

Meanwhile, Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi and his Machakos Town counterpart Victor Munyaka condemned the incident, saying the events should not have happened in the presence of Senator Johnson Muthama.

"As an elder, senator Muthama should have taken charge of the scenario but he surprisingly let things go astray and seemingly enjoyed it," he said.
