Kapenguria, Kenya: Two women were Wednesday arraigned before Kapenguria Principal Magistrate Court and charged with circumcising two girls.
Elizabeth Julius and Lulimle Chepnyorir were accused that on January 18 at Kapela village within West Pokot, they jointly subjected two girls to Female Genital Mutilation, contrary to the law.
They pleaded not guilty before Principal Magistrate Musa Machage and were released on Sh300,000 bond each.
But they were unable to raise the bond and were put in police custody in Kapenguria.
The case will be mentioned on February 5 and heard on March 9.
