Atletico Madrid playmaker Lucas Hernandez has been detained in custody over claims that he assaulted his girlfriend.
The 20-year-old football star was arrested yesterday after a female was hospitalised, although her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Hernandez is expected in court on Friday for a hearing and accused of an offence of gender violence.
Reports in Spain suggest his partner is yet to file a complaint as she is waiting to consult a lawyer.
Should the judge consider a serious crime to have been committed, a criminal proceeding could begin against the player, while a restraining order could be placed on the Athletico Madrid star.
