Nyeri, Kenya: A middle-aged man was arraigned in a Nyeri court charged with violently robbing a criminal investigation officer of his gun five years ago.
Joseph Kangethe was charged that on June 13, 2009 at the compound of Othaya Approved School, jointly with others not before the court and armed with an AK-47 rifle, metal bars and an axe, he robbed Jonah Nzau of a Ceska pistol.
The gun was loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition and valued at Sh58,000. He was also accused of shooting dead the officer.
The suspect has been hiding and was arrested this week.
