Mombasa, Kenya:Two people died on the spot after the vehicle they were travelling in collided head on with a truck along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
The Thursday morning accident that occurred at Taita village, involved a saloon car which was ferrying miraa. The car was headed to Mombasa while the lorry was destined for Nairobi
Taita-Taveta County Police Commander Richard Bitonga said the saloon car was trying to avoid hitting a pothole along the highway and in the process collided with the truck killing the two occupants.
He added that investigations into the accident had been launched.

“It appears the driver of the saloon car who died instantly was speeding,” said Mr Bitonga.
Speaking to The Standard, the police boss, however, said two occupants in the lorry escaped unscathed.
